Robert is a native of California and a 47-year resident of Santa Barbara.
In addition to his public sector work, he is currently serving on the Santa Babrara City Historic Landmarks Commission. He is a past board member of the California Perservation Foundation, member of the Pearl Chase Society and the Society fo Architectural Historians. He is a stong advocate of historic preservation and proper stewardship of historic resources.

Like most interesting cities on the planet, Santa Barbara is an architectually compelling place to visit. Most national or global architects have designed a building here, many are visible.
Whether buildings, landscapes or objects, historic resources abound in Santa Barbara. Many are visible and still others you can visit. There are a number of historic districts with the primary being the El Pueblo Viejo Landmarks Dirstric, Santa Barbara's downtown.
Parks and Open Spaces are critical to the health of any city. Santa Barbara has a verity of parks and many natural open spaces to visit. The parks range from the well manicured Alice Keck Park Memorial Gardens to the micro parks located in neighborhoods.
What one considers a "point of interest" will vary. The Guide considers a point of interest as a location that is unique, allows a view out of the ordinary or an interesting vantage point. There are many paseos tranversing mid-block locations that present interesting views.
